This project demonstrates how AI, IIoT, and standardized digital architectures can transform sustainability from a reporting obligation into a real-time, data-driven operational capability. Through AEROS – IBRTEFC, The Data Cooks contributed to advancing transparent, scalable, and actionable environmental intelligence for the next generation of sustainable manufacturing.

The challenge

Manufacturers face increasing regulatory and market pressure to measure, report, and reduce their environmental impact. However, environmental footprint data is often fragmented across machines, systems, and suppliers, making accurate and real-time footprint calculation extremely challenging. Manual assessments are slow, error-prone, and unsuitable for dynamic production environments, limiting transparency and compliance with upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) and sustainability regulations.

The Solution/Added Value

Within the AEROS project, the IBRTEFC solution was developed as an AI- and IoT-enabled Environmental Footprint Calculation System integrated into the aerOS architecture. The system automatically collects production, process, and material data from industrial environments and transforms it into standardized, real-time environmental footprint indicators.

    Automated calculation of environmental footprints directly from live production data, eliminating manual reporting and improving accuracy.
