This project highlights how AI, IoT, and standardized digital frameworks can transform complex manufacturing data into trusted, regulation-ready Digital Product Passports. Through COROB – GAD_DPP, The Data Cooks contributed to enabling transparent, intelligent, and future-proof manufacturing ecosystems.

The challenge

Modern manufacturing processes such as Arc Welding and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) generate large volumes of high-frequency production data. However, this data is rarely transformed into structured, traceable, and regulation-ready product information. Manufacturers struggle to link process-level data with product-level documentation, making it difficult to ensure transparency, quality traceability, and compliance with emerging Digital Product Passport (DPP) requirements. Existing systems lack standardization, interoperability, and real-time accessibility.

The Solution/Added Value

Within the COROB project, the GAD_DPP solution was developed as an AIoT-enabled Digital Product Passport platform that converts raw manufacturing data into standardized, machine-readable product passports. The system captures per-cycle production data, enriches it with AI-driven analytics, and structures it according to Asset Administration Shell (AAS) principles.

Key added values of the solution include:

  • End-to-End Product Traceability
    Real-time collection and structuring of welding and WAAM process data into Digital Product Passports, enabling full lifecycle transparency.
  • AI-Enriched Manufacturing Insights
    Per-cycle analytics and quality-related indicators provide deeper insight into production behavior and product characteristics.
  • Standards-Aligned & Interoperable Design
    The solution follows AAS and DPP-aligned data models, ensuring compatibility with future regulatory and industrial ecosystems.
  • Validated for Industrial Readiness
    The platform was validated end-to-end in a cloud environment, achieving TRL 6–7 and demonstrating readiness for pilot scaling and commercialization.
