The Key to GAB’s Sales, Inventory & Budgeting Success

GAB, a well-established fashion distributor and retailer, sought a solution to integrate and centralize their sales, inventory, and budgeting data. With information coming from both e-commerce platforms and their ERP system (Styleman), they required a comprehensive approach to consolidate these data streams. Additionally, GAB wanted to streamline their budgeting process and integrate it with their operational data. The Data Cooks were tasked with creating a unified data solution to provide key insights into sales performance, returns, sell-through rates, and growth, while also incorporating budget data.

The challenge

GAB faced the challenge of managing fragmented data spread across multiple platforms. Their sales and inventory data, previously handled in Styleman, needed to be merged with new data from their ItsPerfect ERP. This data integration needed to happen seamlessly while maintaining business continuity. Furthermore, GAB’s budgeting data was managed separately, making it difficult to align financial goals with real-time sales performance. They needed an integrated view that would include not only sales metrics but also budgeting to ensure informed financial planning and analysis.

The Solution / Added Value

The Data Cooks implemented a holistic solution that integrated both operational and financial data. Here’s how we approached the project:

  1. ETL Solution for Data Integration: We designed an ETL pipeline that integrated GAB’s e-commerce and ERP data, pulling historical data from Styleman and merging it with new data from ItsPerfect. This created a single source of truth for their sales and inventory data, enabling more effective tracking of performance metrics.
  2. Budget Integration: To enhance financial oversight, we incorporated GAB’s budgeting data into the same platform. This integration allowed GAB to monitor how their actual sales and inventory performance aligned with their budget goals. It enabled the management team to easily track variances, giving them better control over financial planning.
  3. Data Cleaning and Transformation: We applied rigorous data cleaning and transformation processes, ensuring that all information from the different systems was standardized and formatted consistently. This was key to providing accurate and reliable insights across the board.
  4. Power BI Dashboards: The final piece of the solution was the development of custom Power BI dashboards, offering GAB real-time visibility into critical KPIs, including sales, returns, sell-through rates, and year-over-year growth. Additionally, the dashboard incorporated budget performance data, enabling the company to compare actual performance against their financial targets.

Conclusion
